It is with my great sadness to inform you that Academician Professor Constantin Corduneanu, Honorary Editor of Libertas Mathematica (new series), Founder and Editor of Libertas Mathematica from 1981 until 2011, passed away on December 26, 2018 in Texas Arlington. The second issue of volume 38(2018) of Libertas Mathematica (new series) was dedicated to Professor Constantin Corduneanu in celebration of his 90th birthday as a recognition of his outstanding contributions to mathematical research, for his interest and constant support for publishing the new series of the journal that he founded. I met him for the first time at the University of Florence in 1986, and he impressed me with kindness, generosity, devotion to the causes in which he believed. He has done Mathematics until the last few moments, and has been enormously involved in bringing the American Romanian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ARA) back to the appropriate parameters of an academic institution and stopping its degradation of recent years.
My gratitude for trusting me in the re-launch of Libertas Mathematica in the new international context and for his permanent support, including financial, as the magazine needs to self-finance. As far as I know he was pleased with the evolution of the journal and its contribution to the promotion of Romanian mathematics.
We will miss him very much!

Vasile Staicu
Editor in Chief of Libertas Mathematica (new series)
